Who benefits?
The project is three-fold:
- Socio-economic – full-time sustainable jobs for unskilled workers, housing opportunities, opportunity for households to earn extra income by selling recyclable waste materials at the recycling plant collection stations (at a higher price), opportunity for the informal sector (trash-pickers) to earn more than before, and the inflow of foreign investments.
- Environment – reduction of solid waste through recycling
- Government – welcome support for and contribution to government programs in poverty alleviation, housing, and solid waste management (protection for the environment).
All of these things will be realized through the collection and recycling of things that most of us do not find value in: GARBAGE. One person’s trash is another person’s livelihood. And by doing this, we can assure that the future generation will have the chance of enjoying what we have today.
